Five things for the weekend: nesting

April 2, 2015

It’s Easter! And a long, long weekend. What are everyone’s plans? Here’s a nesting-themed round-up:

1) I love love love this ‘Nesting’ print I’ve just bought for my mum from the lovely Laura Redburn. My mum always used to say a phrase about her ‘nest’ that really resonates with me now I’m a mum, so I thought it was perfect.

2) It occurred to me the other day – probably when I was awake at 3am – that Eliza is at optimum baking age and we had not yet made Easter cornflake nest cakes. So that’s what we did the very next day.

How much do these remind you of being little? We used this really easy recipe from the BBC website.

3) I also realised that we’ve not made daffodils out of egg cartons either – that other childhood favourite –  so I’m on that next week. If you fancy doing something vaguely crafty then here’s a salt dough Easter bunnies guide.

4) Easter egg…or present? My mum used to buy us an Easter present, the most notable being the Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves videotape that we watched every day for weeks. I like this tradition, so 5) I’ve bought Eliza some bits from Tiger (my current second favourite shop next to HEMA) including this cloud cushion.

That cushion is from HEMA? Totally getting on board with some of that. And making Easter nests is one of the easiest and fun forms of baking with a small child. Lastly: Robin Hood Prince Of Thieves is just one of those movies that you can watch over and over (and over) isn’t it? I must have seen it at least 27 times.
