Earrings Are Back In Style – In A Big Way
Earrings for women are definitely having a moment again, which I’m overjoyed about as I’ve just got back into wearing earrings now my kids are older. Everyone I see online is wearing statement earrings, from simple gold huggies through to chunky statement hoops.
Like lots of mums I avoided wearing earrings for years due to the possibility of little hands accidentally pulling on them. But I missed having that little something to jazz up a being daytime outfit, so now I’m back into earrings in a big way!
I currently have three lobe piercings (two on one side, one on the other) as well as an upper ear piercing. I took my additional piercings out in my 20s and presumed they healed over. However, someone recently told me that piercing holes rarely close up entirely, and even if you’ve not worn an earring for decades you should be able to get a stud back in – try it, it worked for me.
My Five Favourite Earring Styles

Here are five earring designs I’m currently loving, from gold huggie hoops through to vintage styles my mum wore in the 1980s@
Gold Huggie Earrings
Huggie earrings are hoop-style earrings that fit snugly around your ear lobe. I find this style comfortable and versatile – they don’t get in the way! – as well as looking stylish. I love these chic gold huggie earrings and these celestial designs. Being able to wear this newer style of earrings is one of the best things about being out of the baby days!

Chunky Gold Earrings
Everyone I see on Instagram is wearing chunky gold earrings – which look great with a neutral, simple jumper. H&M have a good selection of affordable chunky styles.
Vintage Earrings
Vintage earrings are one of my favourite! My mum recently gave me a lot of hers, including some geometric gold triangles from the 80s and some Mary Quant daisy styles. You might need to clean or replace the fastenings, but these will add a fun retro look.
Mismatched Studs And Hoops
For an easy day look when you have multiple piercings, then mismatched studs, hoops and small huggies look really fun. I like this set of silver studs and hoops.
Hoop Earrings
Hoop earrings are an eternal favourite! While I wouldn’t wear the giant hoops from my youth, I love a simple classic smaller hoop. Oliver Bonas have a good selection here and I like this twist on a simple hoop.
