Good Reads: The Pantone Colours Book For Children

We Love The Pantone Colours Book For Children…

I was thrilled to find a copy of the Pantone Colours book for children recently. Have you heard about it? It’s a baby-friendly board book with dedicated pages for each colour, and a grid with a selection of different light and dark shades.

Each of the shades are actual numbered Pantone colours, but have been given a child-friendly name e.g. Pantone 164 is ‘ginger orange’, Pantone 2727 is ‘police officer blue’ and Pantone 416 is ‘wet pavement grey.’ It’s an aesthetically-pleasing book that’s also great for learning about colours, too.

Why We Love The Pantone Colours Book For Children - Great Baby Board Book Of Colours

Why We Love The Pantone Colours Book for Kids

The book is brilliantly simple – think paint charts – and such a creative way of teaching colours and categories to children, as well as the differences in shades. Just imagine the added dimension to playground conversations about ‘what’s your favourite colour?’

As with all brilliant books and things for babies, it’s one that parents love too – and it looks great on the bookshelf.

Other Brilliant Baby Books

I think I’m probably more enthusiastic about it than its owner at the moment, but she’s hypnotised by it whenever we look at it. I love children’s books; along with baby clothes, they’re something I feel completely justified in buying. The book came from our fantastic local independent bookseller, Bookseller Crow on the Hill (at 50 Westow Street, Crystal Palace), which has a magical selection of books for all ages. We’ve also recently bought the Pantone Box of Colour, which has mini colour board books, as well as the Jane Eyre Baby Lit counting primer. I loved books as a child, and really want Eliza to feel the same as she grows up.

On a colourful sidenote, I did think it was an amusing coincidence when Pantone named the colour of 2012 as tangerine tango. Although as it turned out, I didn’t have a ginger baby in the end.

My favorite part about this post, is that you matched what your baby was wearing to the page of the book. Brilliant. You just made my day; thank you.
