New looks and re-introductions

Six years ago I took a big step and hit publish on the first ever post on this blog. Six years on, lots has changed – from pregnancy to now having two children who very much aren’t babies, to job moves and house relocations and renovations.  It’s six years that have seen me write a whole load of posts about a whole load of things.

And then this week saw the 1.5 millionth visit to my blog, which is the kind of thought I would never have even dreamed of while I secretly hit publish in my office, four months pregnant, ‘pretending’ to do work and desperately in need of a nap.

Six years on and with that significant milestone, I thought it was time for a change. So it’s bye to the tube and bus that have served me in various guises over the years and hello to a lovely new logo and look designed for me by the amazingly talented artist and illustrator Laura who took colours and textures from my photos and wove them into something much more wonderful than I’d imagined:

So in terms of other changes? I get asked a lot if I’ll change the name of my site now I have two non-babies – so will I? Well, no! The name was picked for baby on board badges given to pregnant women for use on London’s public transport, but for me it always signified the start of the motherhood journey (and also, they will always be my babies…as will my blog).

And also will I write about the same thing? Well, as my blog has grown so have my babies, and now they are now older I don’t really write so much about them (especially not now they’re old enough to read it, yikes). But I love writing about pregnancy and parenting, especially the ups and downs and highs and woes. People will always have babies, families will grow and evolve; it’s never not relevent or important. And I’ll still write about everything relating to motherhood and family life, from fashion for us all through to family travel, our house and London. As well as random lists and all about the ridiculous things that happen to me, of course.
