Mr Men Meet Father Christmas

We review the children’s book Mr Men Meet Father Christmas…Mr Men meet Father Christmas book review If you’re looking for a last minute children’s Christmas present, you can’t go wrong with a book. And a really good one is Mr Men Meet Father Christmas, which we were lucky enough to be sent to review.

Did you love the Mr Men books when you were growing up?

As a child, we had a bit of a family thing for the Mr Men. Me and my two brothers loved the books, and used to read them over and over. There was also a song about them being on our t-shirt that we used to sing over and over, sorry mum! – and they also make a special guest appearance in Eliza’s nursery. And I’ve written before about how much I love to read to her, as with the fab Pantone Colours book. So the Mr Men, in a book, with a festive theme – what could possibly be better?

Mr Men Meet Father Christmas is a really lovely seasonal story about Little Miss Tiny going on an epic quest through lots of faraway lands to find Father Christmas, with all the traditional Mr Men illustrations. There’s also a Dallas style ‘was it all a dream?’ ending, but I won’t spoil it for all the grown-ups.

Eliza is obviously too young to read the book yet, obviously, but she loved the story and wanted it read again, as well as sitting in unusually silent awe and loved turning the pages over, back again and back over. And this book definitely gained her seal of approval, as she’s been crawling round the house with it for weeks, and the corners are now ever so slightly gnawed. Tasty.
