Christmas costumes for children

November 27, 2012

Are you dressing your baby up in a Christmas costume come the 25th December? Will they be a pudding to open presents, or a Santa to sit around the dinner table?

I missed out of the opportunity to do this last year by a month. Eliza now seems just on the cusp of an acceptable age to play baby dress-up, and some of the outfits I’ve seen are possibly a bit…mean. But then, think of the photo opportunities! Plus the lure of her as a snowman a la the John Lewis Christmas advert is too great (for part of the day, anyway).

So here’s a selection of my favourite Christmas character costumes for children that are available to buy in 2012. All are all from stores affiliated to Give as You Live, so if you buy any of them – or any other presents – online, make sure you sign up to have money donated on your behalf to your chosen charity (it’s really easy; find out more on the website).

Give as you Live has also produced a whole host of Christmas gift guides for the best places to buy presents that will keep on giving even when the decorations are down, via the money that’s donated to charity on your behalf. These include the top toys for Christmas 2012, and a gift guide to presents for your mum.

P.S. when does everyone put their Christmas decorations up? We have a rule that ours don’t go up until my birthday in the third week of December, but someone on my street has the full works up already. Yikes.

Thanks for the Give As You Live tip – what a great idea, I’m signing up. I’m so sad they don’t make that Reindeer outfit in adult size – it looks SO comfy!

It’s really great – basically a really lazy way to donate to charity without actually having to do anything! I would be so tempted by the snowman if it came in adult sizes – can you imagine the looks you’d get on the tube if you wore it to work?

I love these outfits, my little man will be 10 months at Christmas and I cant wait to dress him in one.

But then I’m a cruel mummy who will bring the pics out on his 18th birthday 😉

I don’t think that’s cruel, I think it’s payback for all the sleepless nights, right?! 😉

These are so cute – you have to get baby dressed up in costume at least once.

We are putting our decorations up this weekend as my 2 girls can’t wait any longer and are driving me crazy asking.

I think you’re totally right – you can’t do it when they’re a teenager, can you? Have fun putting your decorations up, I think we’re going to cave and do ours this weekend too!
