Afternoon tea at the Sanderson Hotel – Mad Hatter’s theme

September 2, 2014

This week we had afternoon tea at the Sanderson Hotel in London – looking for the best place to have afternoon tea in the capital? You should give this one a try. We braved the joys of public transport and Oxford Street on a weekday, and headed over for the Mad Hatter’s afternoon tea with an Alice in Wonderland theme at The Sanderson Hotel.

Afternoon tea at the Sanderson Hotel is afternoon tea, but with a twist. The whole thing is themed around Alice in Wonderland – the food, tea, and even the teapots. It is pretty special, as well as being absolutely delicious! Everything is really tasty and looks great. The theme adds an extra layer of fun to the traditional afternoon tea.

And the Alice-themed cakes were pretty amazing. Especially for someone with a pregnancy-induced sweet tooth.

The Sanderson afternoon tea

Afternoon tea at The Sanderson is probably a grown-up equivalent of Eliza’s bus rides and babyccinos, isn’t it? I would say if you’re taking children then the older the better (my two-year-old enjoyed the cakes but got bored of sitting down within about five minutes and just wanted to run around as usual). Or better still, just go with friends and have champagne too.

And ah, The Sanderson. It made me really want to sit at the bar drinking one too many cocktails while trying not to fall over.

We settled for several laps of the foyer and a sit in all of the chairs instead.

Looks LOVELY. I’m usually not a fan of an afternoon tea with a twist – I like my afternoon tea to be traditional (you know where you are then, right?) But this looks LOVELY. I am seriously tempted to think of an excuse to book. PS G has that cat dress from H&M too!

It was so lovely! I’ve been for the traditional tea at The Ritz before which was great in a touristy way, but this was so different x

It is lots of fun! There’s something so tempting about tiny food too (plus it means you can eat loads of cake, practically guilt-free) x

Ooh I’m a sucker for themed stuff like this. The jewellery box sugar bowl is such an adorable idea. Afternoon tea is such a treat (but definitely sans kids and with champagne if possible!) x
