A puzzling weekend

Toddler floor jigsaw

What board games do you remember playing as a child? The ones I always think of are Guess Who? Connect Four and The Game of Life. I’m sure we had a whole cupboard full, but these are the ones that stick out in my memory.

House of Fraser asked us to pick toys and games of our choice from the toy department, to play together as a family. This was really timely as I’ve been trying to find lots of things to keep Eliza occupied while I’m feeding, and also things we can do together as a family so she doesn’t think it’s all about the baby.

While you can buy a lot of the classic games of my childhood on the site, we went for the current toddler favourites – jigsaw puzzles – themed around the cartoons du jour, Frozen and the ‘Tubby Tubbies.’ We also chose a big box of Duplo to bolster the current collection we inherited, and it keeps us all entertained for hours (big thumbs up for Duplo for remaining decidedly non-gendered…tell me there isn’t a pink version?)

These are all things we can do together, or that Eliza can entertain herself with while F is feeding (more realistically, things that I can do with E at the same time F is feeding).

This weekend was cold and rainy, so we holed up in the living room, and got the new jigsaws out:

Children's jigsawI was really tempted by the swingball in the outdoor toys section, but went for a retro fabulous Connect Four for the adults instead. I can’t wait to play this at Christmas with my family. It will probably be a lot of fun (especially after wine, right?) Thanks, House of Fraser.

I love the pic with you holding baby. That’s a typical mum shot there 🙂
