38 weeks pregnant: The October Edition

October 2, 2014

Here’s my latest pregnancy update at 38 weeks pregnant…

38 weeks pregnant

What’s happening at 38 weeks pregnant?

October, a month of mists and mellow fruitfulness,  the clocks going back, and Halloween. And oh yeah, the month of me having a baby.

However I was convinced – utterly convinced – we’d have an early arrival on Tuesday night.

38 weeks pregnant – will the baby arrive early?

This wasn’t due to any major signs at week 38 of my pregnancy (no false alarms like at 37 weeks) But because despite finishing work last Thursday, Wednesday was to be my first proper day ‘off’ in forever, as Eliza would be at nursery. And as I’m that lucky, it seemed like fate and my uterus would intervene and I wouldn’t get to lie down watching trashy TV with no requests for fruit, drinks, or to watch Topsy and Tim…for at least a few hours.

But woohoo, the baby is staying put – for now – and this update is coming to you live from the sofa, from which I’m not moving my 38 weeks pregnant body for the rest of the day. Unless I need a snack (which I think is kind of a given at the 38th week of pregnancy – always).

38 weeks: pregnancy symptoms

Speaking of, my new pregnancy symptom is heartburn. Which is always fun, isn’t it? And thanks to a 4am trip to good old Dr Google’s surgery (always open, never a waiting list or queue) I self-diagnosed with Pregnancy Carpal Tunnel Syndrome as I kept waking up with pins and needles in my hands. Am I growing a baby or becoming a middle-aged man?

I’m 38+6 weeks pregnant as I write this, so we’re really nearly there. I’m still pretty happy waiting though, especially as everything is as ready as it can be. Pass the snacks, please?

I had carpal tunnel with Milin! Totally forgot how weird it was! Hope you get lots of time on that sofa with your feet up! *Passes chocolate biscuits* xx

It’s so weird! Just had a nap and woke up with dead hands. Did yours go after you gave birth? And thank you! Back on the soda with biscuits now xxx
